2/14/08 - I put new plugs (Autolite 3116) and new wires on her. Reset the points gap and cleaned the points. I finally got her to start. Likes flywheel turned slow and easy.
2/16/08 - I got her to start again today. Then I shut her off and started her again. Likes to start when the #2 cylinder fires. According to a test from Pat B, the idle circuit may be clogged. Am going to tear the carb down Monday and clean it out real well.
3/01/08 - Well, the carb got cleaned and a new gasket kit put in it. Didn't help. Have some drill bits ordered to clean the passages and orifices. Pat B. has been a wealth of help and information. Just have to wait for the drill bits now.
3/3/08 - Drilled out the "secret passage" in the carb. She runs and idles great now!! Starting still takes a bit. Ordering an ignition kit for the mag.
3/16/08 - Got the ignition kit in and had to put the old condensor back in, the new one wasn't any good. Still waiting to hear from the vendor. Replaced the hose from the breather to the inlet elbow. It had a big hole in it, has made a big difference with starting and running. Got the fast idle where it should be. Got the components for the shutters, still working on them.
3/17/08 - Have the shutters about figured out. Went through the carb again with the drill bits. She starts in about 3 turns of the flywheel. 1 turn with choke closed, and 2 with it open. Took her for a drive at the neighbors. Woo Hoo!!! Now I gotta wait for painting weather.
3/22/08 - Got a new water temp gauge put in today. Chased some bolt holes and put some new hardware on.
4/3/08 - I've been doing some disassembly, re-assembly, priming and painting. On the left I have from the flywheel to the back done. On the right I have from the pulley to the back done. On top from the gearshift on back done.
4/7/08 - I now have the hood, grills, and gas tanks off. Tanks are primed and one painted. This will give me better access to getting alot of other parts off to get cleaned and painted. Will probably have to drain the radiator soon.
4/27/08 - Well, hard to keep this up to date when the weather's nice enough to be outside working. Everything is back on the tractor and painted except for the overflow tube. Need to get a new sediment bowl. Front and rear wheels need to be done and the steering pedestal between the front tires. Also the "John Deere" on the rear axles needs to be done, and decals at some point.
4/30/08 - Got the front wheels back on after painting them and the rest of the steering pedestal. Got one side of one rear wheel cleaned, primed and partially painted. These 2 are gonna be a job!
