Here it is the day I picked it up. Pretty much like you would expect an old plow to be; hoses are dry rotted, rims are different sizes, one of the rims is shot, covered in rust, one moldboard is broke, parts for coulters are there, just mismatched.
I used a wire brush on my drill and cleaned off the rust as best as I could, then used primer. I had 2 different kinds laying around.
Tires and tubes are good now. JD yellow takes 3-4 coats to cover well. Waiting on decals, need to paint the hub bolts and the drawbar control rod. Just about done, probably have about 40 hours in it now.
The John Deere Model 44 plow was made from 1945-1957. Normally you see these old plows with 2 large levers on top. Mine just has a hand crank. This was done the first 2 or 3 years the plow was made. It was to level the plow. There were 2 sizes of frames, and each frame could be adjusted to take 2 different sized moldboards. Mine is the larger frame, and is set up with 14-inch moldboards.
